The Fire Service checks our buildings regularly and we PAT test all electrical items when they are first bought into the building and annually thereafter. At the end of all of these inspections we are given written reports with recommendations where needed. Once a year our residents complete a survey where they are asked about their views on life in Avenue House. When you come to live at Avenue House your personal health and care needs will be discussed with you and your Care Plan agreed. Any help you need will be given with respect and consideration for your privacy.
In 2012, Hammerson House merged with Nightingale House, our home in Clapham. It is a great testament to the Hammerson family that we are able to continue their vision in providing a wonderful home, offering exceptional care. We also provide respite care for elderly people to give their carers a break. We are completely dedicated to providing a safe, warm and comforting environment for all our elderly residents. The home has three gardens for all the residents to enjoy and many of the rooms look out onto one of these gardens. You must have lived in Germany on a residence permit for at least 8 years or you must have lived in Germany on a residence permit for 7 years and attended an integration course . We have one of the largest in-house therapy departments within a care home setting in the UK. The multi-disciplinary team comprise our physiotherapists, occupational therapists, a moving and handling advisor and dietitian.
We reviewed the information and data available to us about Avenue House Nursing and Care Home on 3 November 2022. We have not found evidence that we need to reassess the rating at this stage.
Residents’ and Third Party Terms and Conditions
Each has a digital TV point, a phone point with a line already connected, a minimum of 3 double electric sockets and a call bell. You are encouraged to furnish your room with your own furniture and belongings, but basic furniture can be provided if necessary. Your privacy is respected as staff will always knock and you may lock your door. If this service has not had a CQC inspection since it registered with us, our judgement may be based on our assessment of declarations and evidence supplied by the service.
Provides insurance for residents’ possessions up to an agreed limit. Our care team includes dedicated Senior Care Assistants and Care Assistants, and at night there are always two Care Assistants awake on duty. The remainder of the team is made up of Cooks, Domestic Assistants, Activity Coordinators, an Administrator and a Maintenance Worker. We have 30 single units, each with a built-in wardrobe with a mini lockable safe, and en-suite toilet and shower.
The 116 bedrooms have been carefully designed within this beautiful home for our community to enjoy in their older years. From time to time alcoholic drinks will be offered parties / special occasions within the home. We have an experienced and enthusiastic care team led by the Manager and Assistant Manager, and see staff training as an essential part of maintaining standards. We aim to be totally upfront and transparent about all our care home costs and fees, and to provide the highest standards of care whatever fees are paid. For services we haven't rated we use ticks and crosses to show whether we've asked them to take further action or taken enforcement action against them.

Safe and Caring

All clothes need to be labelled with your name, preferably before you come to live here – we can order labels for you if you like. We have a cleaner on duty everyday during the week and they will make arrangements with you about when your individual room will be cleaned. Was comprehensively re-developed in 2003, and everywhere has been completely redecorated, with new carpets, curtains and lighting. The stately old Victorian building is joined to a modern three-storey extension, and is serviced by two lifts.
